I would suggest the opposite, so what they do when they are cleaning up petrol stations. Put the outlet from the pump straight up like a fountain. The petrol will evaporate off and the water will fall back into the tank

Anyway there is my 2 cents.

Or overflow the tank.... Fill it with more water and the fuel will flow over the edge of the tank and out of the system.

The problem I have with most suggestions is I need to use more water, wether it be flooding or drain/wash and refill.

I dont have a supply of fresh water, only tap water that is highly chlorinated for our region. There is no quick fix for me. :dontknow:

Thanks for your concern guys

Is your water more chlorinated than mine?

I just add 4000 litres at a time without a problem.

Yeah, chlorinated water isn;t really such a problem, especially when you're just topping up...

I did not mean for you to waste water. Just pump it up into the air and let it fall back into the tank. The petrol and oil will be gone in no time and the tank will be nicely aerated to boot.

You could half submerge some plastic containers to displace the water and run some off the top. Then get some new water dechlorinating.

I;ve timed my HSM well because now that I'm back online I can let you all know about it.

This morning I turned a pump on in the greenhouse and this evening came back to find that the clear stand pipe I use to measure a pumps working pressure had fallen from the greenhouse roof. If almost fell into the sump but sadly missed which meant that about half the system water is now on the ground.

Fish seem fine, some plants a bit wilted but now I need to add about 10kL of water.

Maybe I needed to do this to get the NO3 to drop. :dontknow:
