Hello everyone.

Just thought I'd introduce myself. The name is Eric and I live in Geelong. I've become interested in setting up an aquaponics system recently. My brother introduced me to the idea a couple of months ago. I am very keen to get set up as soon as is practicable.

A number of factors in my favor will aid my drive and chance of success from the start. These being my qualifications (Environmental engineering degree), and my experience in aquariums for a number of years as well as general handyman skills.

My mind is buzzing with ideas of large scale production for all sorts of environmental benefits. But I need to start small to get a a feel for it all.

I've just acquired a couple IBCs previously used to store cod liver oil and am keen to get it kicking off when I get my porch slab poured. I am interested in first of all having a direct look at a nearby system if anyone feels like letting me have a gander. And letting me pick their brains a bit. :D

:headbang:

Welcome to the forum Ezy, hope your brother told you that it is addictive and you can expect to be planning a second system before the first is finished :Try the free IBC manual and you tube video for lots of helpful info and dont forget to share your pics along the way.

Thanks Faye. Got the manual and the video. Looking forward to getting it going when the slab is poured. I'm aiming for early to mid summer to have it running. The time it takes hinges on getting the slab done first.

Brother hasn't set up a system yet. As far as I know he hasn't got any materials for it. He tried to get started on the folks outdoor pond but got as far as thinning out the water weeds one day. haha.

Cheers... Eric
