Hi!

I live in Tujunga, Ca which is the most East and the Most North a person can go an still be in the City of Los Angeles. Tujunga is surrounded by two mountain ranges...the Verdugo Mountains and the San Gabriel Mountains. My house is on the Foothills of the San Gabriels.

I have a 2,500 gallon koi pond with a sand filter. I have about 20 koi and 4 red eared sliders.

We are considering converting our ornamental pond into a food producing pond. We would like to grow Tilapia or really any fish that is good for human consumption and would grow well here. Presently, we do not have a heater set up and from what I read, tilapia need to be kept warm in the winter. I can get down to 35 degreesF at time during our winter.

Anyone here ever convert a koi pond into a food pond? Anyone here from the LA area?

plebty of people have converted kio ponds to food ponds just have a poke arond and im sure youll find one sooner or later
