there is HDPE (high density polyethylene) and they do make polyethylene liner though the EPDM is more flexible.

Hi Outbackozzie

Have been very (Very ) impressed with your setup, has made a great read, hope the system is still performing well for you! :notworthy:

As for the question of why some pods (IBC sorry business I was in called them pods & the family too) break down and some don’t

Plastics break down due to UV light passing through the plastic( breaks the polymer Bonds) hances why light colour and thin walled plastic containers break down quicker, they are allowing the UV light to pass right through the walls, UV stabilisers stop the UV light from penetrating much like sun cream or zinc do!... that’s why paint works so well and as someone here stated! Doesn’t matter what type of paint so long as it sticks!

Why some pods break and others don’t? Will depend on the plastic (not all plastics are made = ) used and what is being kept in them and wall thickness as well e.g. my brother uses Veg oil in his Nissan and is storing the Oil in Pods, which have been exposed to the sun for the last 3 or more years with no break downs however the oil is very dark in colour and would seem to help reduce light transfer through the Pod walls

If I have stated something incorrect, sorry have been out of the plastics industry for about 7 years, I tend to forget some details about polymer chemistry.

Cheers Olley
