Also the Barra from Freo Tafe all survived in one bag without problem for the 6 hour journey home

Our SP's from Woodvale Fish & Lily Farm did not do well, I think we have a few left from 60! Also cost way too much. Our Koi from there are doing great though.

The Barra from Freo Tafe are all going strong. $1 each at end of August, they were about 4-5cm. I measured one today and it was already 12cm. Should be a good size come Autumn. I got a call from the guy at the Tafe the other day and they won't have anymore available until late Jan 2012. I hope the price & size are the same but as someone previously mentioned, they will need to be "wintered" to get them to plate size

Hey there , You must have a very large plate,
Last year I got barra out to 600+gm from fingerlings as big as my thumbnail in August till May.
Sure not huge but certainly able to fillet them
Cheers

With good rains this year there shouldnt be any shortage of Trout for next season. That is of course providing that we dont get an extremely hot summer.

Not yet - pretty sure they're meant to be available mid-December from what a mate told me

And they will be way too small unless you want to over winter them.. I just spoke to a bloke today who has stocked his system a week ago with trout fry about 2-3 cm long... I think he;s going to have a hard time about it..
