I will be making some largish ones like that up for some friends who rent soon & are only allowed a potted veggie garden... No limit was given on the size of the pot in their contract

I'm very happy with the bath being what it now is I was going to plant spuds in it but while Iwas stuck in front of the tv watching bathhurst my loving wife planted carrots and herbs she new i'd be in a good mood after holdens won the race easy

red beard---did you drill a hole in the bathtub for the reservoir overflow? Are you somehow using the bottom drain for that purpose?

I inverted the drain fitting on ours as the overflow Tai-tai...

I've done an external reservior to my double bucket 'Global bucket' style wicking bed apartment garden.

The float valve is quite cheap about $4, a small plastic float- no need to specifically use a toilet cistern valve. I have all the reservoirs connected with 20mm pvc pipes. The inlet to the float valve is 'Tee'd' into my Aquaponics so my 'fish water nutrients goes to my wicking beds. I have another 15 ltr bucket for my reservoir but another possibility would be just connected to your mains water. By doing this the size of the reservoir in the bottom of the individual buckets is less important.

The only thing I have to do is ensure my aquaponics has sufficient water, but a float valve connected to mains could easily be done here too.

No watering- gota luv it.

I glued a peice of poly pipe over the plug hole that is long enough to reach the top of where i was filling the dirt to I drilled some 8mm holes about 120mm up from the bottom of the pipe works like a dream

Why not just use a 7/8 blade bit to drill a hole and tap it out with 3/4 pipe tap and screw pvc nipple in. Works like a charm, no leakes. Jerry

why destroy a clawfoot bath completly by drilling holes in it

Hay red beard I am with you about drilling holes in the bathtub. I wanted that post to be about the plastic buckets that ozinbrasil had on his post. I don't a blade bit would drill a bath tub. Sorry about this. Jerry
