Tested again tonight nitrates and nitrites 0, ammonia 0, but ph has jumped to 9 I took the cover off for a few hours and cleaned more algae out, would this effect the ph so much so quick.
I have put a divider in the tank today to separate the fish from the marron and removed all the pipes from the fish part so I can monitor the fish better without them hiding all the time. When I threw the food in they all ate well
Could it be that the fish are still to small to produce enough nutrients for the plants. All the fish are very fast and active today once I had separated them and could keep an eye on them.
Any thoughts.
Cheers
Adam

You added crushed limestone to the system, this will definitely put your pH up.

And yes... As I said in my original post, very small fish, not eating much over winter, means no nutrient for the plants.

Try giving the fish small regular feeds 2-3 times a day if you can, as much as they will eat. But now you have a high pH you will need to monitor your levels.

I hope you do know that you will never get rid of all the algae... There will always be some algae on the tank walls... Aquaponics is a natural system, you cannot get your tank to look spotless like a swimming pool.

Yes I don't think I will ever get rid the algae either but there must be a happy medium some where. It should not be growing 3inches a day
Just trying to find it
