Jaymie's system is really cool, and her Jades are lovely things that suck on your fingers and let you pat them. The amount of produce from AP that hits their table each night is phenominal. Well done guys, keep up the good pizza! Uh I mean work!

Wow, just got done reading all 156 pages. Great job on the system, and a great job on showing all the steps along the way. Thanks for that, it will help me on my system. If you don't mind I have a couple questions.

How often do you have to change the water out? I thought it rarely ever had to be done.

And aren't these fish fresh water fish? If so how does adding salt not hurt them?

Brad, just have to go out, I'll answer these ones later for you

we only change the water out if something really bad happens. we top up the tank as necessary, but no complete water changes

most Australian and probably other freshwater fish can handle a certain amount of salt in the water, not to seawater levels or anything. Seawater has about 35 parts per thousand of salt. We can add up to about 6 parts per thousand without worrying the fish too much. The salt will kill most parasites though, if you add it fairly quickly, before they can adjust to the salinity.
