same thing happend to me, every thing died and I felt like giving up, four weeks later my plants are going nuts. next time I build a system I will remeber this... hey I dont even have a test kit :mrgreen:

Anyone knows how many GB can I support using this 200 gal FT? I am thinking to get about 20 fishes.

I'd throw 4 to 6 more beds like that, around that tank and that'd be a sweet "little" system. Run that for a year while you sketch out the next, bigger system. :twisted:

Drive down to Houston and come visit. There's several popped up here in the last year or so.

Update:

Day 11, no changes.

Nitrites =0
Nitrates=0
Ammonia= 8.0
Ph= 7.6

We got a litter bit of rain yesterday hope that help. Plants are very much struggling for survival.
I already have the fishes in a fish tank (10 goldfish and 10 Tilapia fry) ready to be inserted into the main FT. Hope they don't die before the main tank finished the cycle.

Hi Vit, have you put some aeration into the tank yet? If not, try. It might speed up the ammonia to nitrite conversion.

ivansng,

Yes I did, I have a large 8 inch disk with an ActiveAqua 45 liters par min air pump. The water is clear now after the seaweed extract clear so maybe the bacteria is soon coming, I hope.

Well guys, This is day 13 of my fish-less cycle and finally some changes. My nitrate still 0 and my ammonia still a bit high but in the measurable range now. Now, the nitrite have move from 0 to 0.25 ppm, see pics for details. I don't know the pH yet because I broke one of the cylinders but I will post it later. I think the bacteria have just arrived and let's hope it keep moving.

Just a quickie....

Dont mix up the vials, so dont test ya PH in one after its been used for somthing else or Vice versa as it can affect readings and stuff I know ammo and ites are the worst ones.

Just work out how much water you need for a PH test and try a medicine cup or somthing...

Just wash it really good straight away... and test what ever you normally tested in that vial... make sure its still close to what you had last time.

78c should kill everything. Did you mean 78F?

Hi Jamey

I've been known to use the one vial to test all four reactions.
I can't understand why rinsing them isn't sufficient
The theory of dilutions would suggest so.

cheers Lou
