I don't know how they would taste but otherwise yes.
Have several in my system with the perch, helps keep it going when the perch slow down in winter.

+1 they're great.
Wouldn't bother eating them unless you were starving though.
Have fungal issues the low temp swings here though.

They're just Cyprinus carpio, so there's plenty of cultures that love eating them !

I have koi and goldfish in my system, I let my system get near freezing during the winter and they have no problem being in the cold. My water temp gets to about 75F in the summer...it's a bit warm for them, but haven't lost any yet!

I am also using Koi, Goldfish and Silver Perch. The perch are in a separate tank.
Is a good way of keeping things going during fish changeover or cold weather if you only have perch. I find they are nicer to look at and will eat out of your hand once settled.

My home system runs on Koi as it is an ornamental pond at my front door, I really should update my pictures to show it I guess :D

Our silver perch tank at school has two pet Koi in it.

There's a commercial AP system not far from here that sells koi to the aquarium trade (although it's not listed on their web page.)

Am thinking to raise a few koi in my raft grow bed. The water height under the float board is about 12 cm. Is anyone doing so? will koi eat fungi and/or plant root? Thanks.

I have 400 of them in my bigger system. they live there very happily with the tilapia. I would recommend them if you do not like to eat fish or just want an ornamental fish in your system. I wouldn't buy them if they are expensive though, probably not the best deal. I buy mine for $1 a piece.

I have about 30 - 50 in my 900lt tank been in there for 6 months from fingerling size seem happy as a clam getting big tho.. going to have to thin out the heard and put some of the bigger ones into the big ponds after winter.. during winter im sure they will be fine as i cant really feed much anymore and they are going to go into hibernation. They love plant roots soo being under a raft system would be a no go unless stocking density are super low that the roots can keep up to fish eating them. We put 2 good sized water lettus is just to see if we can grow them some pond plants to play in.. next day.. zero roots on plants.

From memory they are illegal to keep.
You can thank pond owners for trying to be kind and releasing them into waterways.

Thanks to Mordyr and DoubleEagleFarmllc. Now I keep about 40 10-12cm kois in my 1200L fish tank and they are happy and healthy. Normally the fish farm will pick up those good ones with nice and potential color patterms and leave the rest to be sold at cheap price. Mine is about US$0.7 each. Some even buy these small kois as meal for other carnivore fishes. I'd be careful if they do eat plant root. Maybe I will just put a couple of them in the raft bed and see what happens. Will keep all posted in due course. Cheers.
