System redesign on hold for the moment, learnt a lesson though, marron will destroy electrical cable

Caught my first 6 trout of the season, also the first fish I have eaten in the two years it has been running . Used my herding net which worked well

To enjoy I brined over night in a solution of one table spoon of salt and one tablespoon of brown sugar per each cup of water that was needed to cover the fish in a tub the liberally marinated in an olive oil, brown sugar, salt and pepper mix



Smoked in the hooded BBQ at 100 degrees Celcius for about and hour using mequite saw dust, bumped the heat to 150 C for the last 15 minutes to ensure it was cooked.



Eaten for lunch with a fresh aquaponics salad

That looks absolutely amazing, thankyou for sharing the photos with us Simo. I think this year we are starting to see more fish harvests from people than in previous years. Great to see.

I,ve had that problem as well... and with pond liners. my cables now go straight up from the pump and a piece of 13mm poly cut and slipped onto the cable and taped to hold it down... havent had a cable chewed since and it makes it harder for them to climb out

Closest I've come to something like that is having to bury power cables at exploration camps in the bush as, for whatever reason, dingoes like chewing on them !

Can I just chime in here to make sure people understand the concept of airpump. Most poeple think the airpump's bubbles add oxygen to the water. Well it doesn't add much at all. The purpose of the airpump is to break the surface of the water, causing oxygen exchange at the top of the water.

Hence, a couple things to note. A power head (pump) stirring the whole top surface of the FT would add a lot more oxygen. A FT that is deep (over 600mm), and has small surface area will suffer from lack of DO.

I agree, this is why I went for a spraybar made for a pond pump instaed of adding more airpumps.

Had another black out last week and the BYAP battery backup airpump kept 50 largish trout alive in 4500L for the 4 hours before I got home and started the generator. Just goes to show that a lower stocking density also gives you a greater margin of error.
