Two words: digital steganography. You could embed the BYAP link into the image, to mark ones that were stolen. Wouldn't be as obvious as a watermark though.

But for steganography to work, someone has to know to look for the data. It would be a way to prove a stolen image is yours, but other than that, not much use, I don't think.

I really don;t want to have to watermark all the images, it does take away from the images and it annoys me when I see it on sites. And yes, unfortunately the simple fact is that they will just grab the next image they find of someone elses. This is about having a go at the perpetrators rather than trying to find more ways of protecting things.

You're on to a losing proposition on that aspect. There are always more assholes out there on the net who will steal your (or others) images. The whole point is that the more images are protected the harder it is for the perps to find them. As far as I'm concerned that is a far better solution than going after them. That would be a long non-stop road.

But there in lies a bit of a quandary for me almost.. Well at least for some people that are using pictures our our systems and equipment etc. In a way it's probably not all bad news depending on how stuff is used and the claims made around them.. Having our gear out there used in images is almost advertising in a way...

What I don't like is people making claims that things are theirs when clearly they are not, but if it's just as an example of aquaponics, weeeeellllllll..... ?

Interesting, I noticed the other day that a moderator on Gary's forum is using our logo as his avatar... Oh well, just making our stuff a bit better known...

Frankly ... Mr. Pugo... should know better than to pinch someone else's image...

And Gary should know better than to allow any member of his forum to pinch someone else's image... let a lone one of his moderators...

I'd be dropping a note to Gary... just in case he doesn't know...

I agree the images bear a close recemblance, you think Pugo/EB glanced towards this

this
http://www.canstockphoto.com/illustrati ... id=6830829
or this
http://www.canstockphoto.com/illustrati ... id=2696290
:dontknow:
I think they are all nice but differente, a load off yin yang out there with a fish and a leaf.
If Pugo's avatar is a copy or questionable, what about EB's :?:

I like this thread a lot, but this is sort of................. BS IMO
cheers

Wow. Soltun. You serious?

We are talking about taking what someone has created and using it. Not something that looks similar.

Yeah I'm serious I think EB's (byap) logo and Pugo's avatar bear a close recemblance, specialy the fish in the yin yang, the leaf in Pugo's I like better(design), but the shadow and frame in EB's is better than Pugos IMO

I agree the links I posted dosen't look like EB's and Pugo's separatly but the leaf and fish collors and lines looks like they could have been a inspiration for them both don't you think?

You do see that they are differente all of them don't you?
Maybe this http://typestack.com/uncategorized/some ... -going-on/
have been a inspiration?

Or is any yin yang with a leaf/fish green/blue EB's logo?

What about EB's avatar, is that his design, or all the other avatars you see, privat design's? I never had a avatar and don't understand the purpose of it. Do you?
I don't get it? Please explain.

cheers

Did EB create Pugos avatar ?

There's absolutely no doubt that EB created his image... there is a history that shows it's evolution... and a distinct release date... and an employed graphics artisit to attest to it....

Pugo may well have "modified" the swirl in the leaf ... but it's blindingly obvious... and deliberate IMO.... that he has started with EB's image... and applied a cosmetic differentiation...

The difference is absolutely minimal... the basic design and colouration are identical... and obviously copied with a "slight" modification...

No... it was originally part of a logo of an NZ company... I wrote to them to ask if it was OK to use the section I have....but received no response... I'm not sure the company still trades...
