While I can understand scepticism about certain things, I really fail to comprehend the concept of being a blanket sceptic.

build and exercise centre next to the ap shed filled with exercise bikes, create energy from the rotation of the bike wheel, the more rotations they do the more food they're entitled to, solve the food and obesity problem in one hit!

I dont understand why you would want to use solar panels to create power from sunlight, then store the power and try to convert back to artificial sunlight.
Same thing with the heating.
I think ALOT more research needs to go into this idea.
If you want to be 100% off grid, you need to maximise efficiency.
And the current plans are certainly not doing that.

I would think that you would want to replace the roof with double glazed glass to allow natural light in but keep some insulation.
Then you would probably want to paint the floor black to absorb heat in winter.
Then solar powered fans to increase circulation in summer to remove excess heat.
Also, shade cloth could be added to the roof in summer if needed.

The way you have mentioned simply will not work.

I recon I could do this off grid ......no worries, all comes down the CASH............AUD< USD...... that is it, this whole idea isn't NEW, just old with no funds

Yeah... last spring was pretty hot... they seemed to enjoy it...

I can appreciate the want to be totally closed looped in your food production.
Permaculture and nature is probably the only place you will find a closed loop.
Aquaponics needs inputs, power,new fish, food and plants/seeds.
All things can be solved with money.
A friend has a 3 kw off grid solar system to run his house I think it cost $25 G (after a $25 g subsidy)
That I would imagine could run an aquaponic system as well as his house.
If you apply for some grants you may be able to set up the solar powered food and baby fish generating system.
Otherwise a passive aquaponic system, integrated into a permaculture system maybe the closest you get.
There was an episode of river cottage that had trout and water cress being grown in a closed loop (still think may have had to add baby trout as required.

No. The reason we're not living there is cost/benefits. We already have the necessary technology to survive the travel and living issues. It's just that the returns do not justify the initial cost.

A bit like trying to setup a totally off-grid Aquaponics system. Sit down and figure out the costs versus the returns before you start accusing people. Whilst it might be an ideal, there is a reason why there are not many such implementations.
