That's okay - edits are time/date stamped (I was gonna quote you but thought to give you the opportunity to be brave)

Hi Jaymie:

My list of things:

#1 clear silicone

tap water neutralizer

pH test
Ammonia test
Nitrite test

sea salt
chelated iron - make sure that it is just iron, mine had other things in it that may have hurt my fish

lemon juice (to lower pH, have used this several times)
shell grit (I thinked I messed up my pH with this last year (made it too high because it was very dusty - should rinse it))

I should say that I now think that messing with the pH is for the birds. My feeling is that I tried to micromanage this and hurt my fish because of it (with the carbonate dust). I hope to just use well-buffered tap water at around 7 for topping off and not have to worry otherwise (thanks for the advice MF wherever you are).

Nitrate test - (I still haven't needed this except with my living room aquarium to verify that indeed the nitrates were too high)

PVC fittings assortment in 3/4", 1", and 1 1/4" sizes.
Vice grips
Nylon zip ties
Drill
Miter saw

Walmart (cheap department store)
Lowe's (hardware store)
