After a patient wait my first stock of fish are in. Considering the weather in Melbourne at the moment I have stocked the system with 15 Rainbow trout. Thanks to all for guiding me on a suitable stocking rate. Fish have now been in the system for a week and eating well. The 10 baby yabbies a one gold fish that had found its way into the tank are no longer with us. Video below shows the trout in week one.

3 weeks since the trout were introduced to the system. All survived and growing well. I'm still having trouble with rats or possums getting into the GB's. Its starting to look like Fort Knox, however I am starting to see some excellent growth. I thinking of putting a permanent roof over the system something that would resemble a glass house. This would allow me to cage in the area which should eliminate access to whatever is eating the plants. Again any further works will have to get approval from my landscape designer and stylist.

I think I have the possums under control but clearly the rats are still getting to the plants. For the last two weeks I have reverted to the traditional snap traps with little success - until this morning.

Dead Rat #1

Looks like I'll be washing all vegies before eating!

Yeah love the system and love to see a dead rat! I will be taking notes from this system for my new decking system. Will be using 1 or 2 large glass aquariums and building them into a timber bench so the cladding is a good idea, love the portholes!
