I'd say you ,ay just have to wait for a little longer.. I found that in the first 1-6 months of a system being set up, tomatoes didn't grow fantastically in any of my systems, they grew, but nothing great... Nowadays though, I have huge tomatoes, one cherry tomato at the moment has had more fruit on it than leaves for the past 3 months, hasn't stopped producing hundreds of fruit...

Another thought, how is the light where your plants are? I have 4 different kinds of tomato plants growing. The regular cherry plants don't seem to mind shade, but the grape tomato plants want lots of light. The larger toms had no fruit in the shaded area but did very well where the sun hit the leaves.

I don't know what lead to this mercurial attempt at humour but it's neon impossible to iron out the true meaning

Thanks for the advice and the laughs...

I think I might take a water sample to the aquarium shop just to see how it turns out.

As for the lighting, its out on the porch in direct sunlight.

Any advice on which plants work well when an AP system is still 'fresh'?

the leafy greens work best in the start up systems. This includes the different types of lettuce, chards, silverbeet and as always the good old herbs.

My snow peas are doing the best in my new system. I'm growing them to be able to eat the young leaves and shoots. Wasabi is doing pretty well, too. Bok choy is next best for me right now.
