Jamey with the strainer why does it have to be so long? Do you mean put holes for 40cm worth of pipe or holes at 40cm away from the pump?

Is this right Jamey?

With the removal of that "inlet" it will have a strainer (plastic case)?

Additional flow controllable inlet with 2"BSP male thread along with step-down inlet sizes 25mm, 32mm, 40mm. A threaded cap is supplied if the inlet is not required. This inlet allows:
1. The use of a satellite strainer connected by tubing at the other end of the pond. The controller can be adjusted to allow some water to come through the satellite strainer and the balance through the pump strainer.
2. The use of a skimmer-box satellite strainer as an additional controlled inlet.

I can actually close off this inlet. But if i can where is the main inlet then....i cant find it in the pic at all lol

Hang on a minute, why on earth would you want to pull apart a perfectly good pump...?

You should be able to find a fitting just like this... No need to pull it apart of muck around to much..

Its not the same pump as that one joel,

if you look at the Ebay link and at the pics, it has the inlet with the snorkle thing on it, it then states in the ebay photo to remove that if you want to have it draw through the strainer.

as for attaching the outlet that is a simple as your pic :)

Actually iv just looked at the photo on a puter and it looks as it that is a tap kind of thing allowing you to turn it to draw from either the snorkel or from inside the strainer without pulling it down etc,

it should come with a screw on cap to just unscrew the inlet snorkel and then put that cap on and turn the tap to make it draw from the inside.....

Even more simple than i first stated...

I have the same pump as that. Went and purchased all these bits and pieces to attach a pipe to it. Gave up in frustration when I had trouble attaching some flexible pipe then unscrewed the variable size connector thingy and found that a 40mm screw-on coupler fitted like a glove.

Went to bunnings and found a 50mm pressure adapter that screwed right in :)

Now should i be reducing it down to 25mm or should i keep it at 50mm?
