Thankfully the aquaponics set up will be going beside the car port - which means a) no access from the front yard, b) no access from the back yard (fenced from either side, gates only to the back yard which most adults can't open lol). Girls both have autism (7 and 9) - and are thankfully very very rule based, so I should be able to set the rule's, get them to sign an agreement, and have it adhered to. There are times when this is advantageous :)

Yes Mike does need an office organiser. But I haven't found anybody else that does organic chicken feed (so just order 2 bags when I order, and reorder when I get down to 1). I think I'm local to him which helps.

Finished reading the nockypod thread :)

Went to the Woodvale Fish and Lily farm yesterday - they are having a sale on ponds. So I brought myself a nice round one to go under the grow bed ($75 marked down from $120). It's about 90cm in diameter and about 30cm deep (worked out around 180L) Apparently they want to redo the section where they store the ponds - so they are selling most of them at similar types of discounts. I was eyeing off the larger rectangle and square ones as future grow beds... but decided that I should get the system up and going before I tamper with it

I think it should make a nice duckweed/marron pond. Waiting impatiently....(and it's only been a week since I ordered - so at least another week or two before it arrives)

On the non aquaponics note - I finally found a finger lime! Bunnings (Joondalup) has the rainforest pearl for $34.99. I've been looking for this one for a while! They only had 4 in stock and they were still being unloaded. Happy dance from me!

Just finished digging out the wicking bed where they are going... Still got a bit to do like level off the area, dig out/reinforce a spot for the FT, get some old besser blocks from family members for the GB's, get all the plumbing/pumps ordered, cut/paint the IBC's, sort out the grow media then get some goldies to kick start the system so should be up by Monday Arvo... **nods**
Might just have a quick ale before I make another start though...

Just a few things lol. Good luck!

I've cleared the space for mine - as it's going on paving it's a bit simpler. Just had to move the pots I had set up in there (with wetpots) down to the other end of that area. Did give me a chance to admire the tumeric, horseradish, kaffir lime, bay tree and ginger this year, great growth's there as well.

I still have to move the foam container wicking pots of lettuce and tomotoes. Funny enough better crop of tomatoes at this time of year than in summer. I think the heat just fried everything this year (must remember to put up shade cloth next year...).

I've been having fun attending a couple of Edible garden workshops this year - learning heaps about trying to actually grow things in the Perth sandy soils. Hoping that once I've finished all the improvements I will actually manage to grow annuals over summer - my fruit tree's are actually starting to look and fruit like they should. But I'm still hopeless when it comes to annual's
