Just wondering, do some types of plants use more nutrients than others?

If so, which ones use the most? If you were a bit short on GB space could you
plant more of a paritcular veg to maximise nutrient uptake?

Cheers,

Absolutely

I assume by 'nutrients' you are referring to nitrates primarily ?

In that case plant lots of green leafy veges (chard, spinach, etc) as they love nitrates and grow pretty fast .

However, if you have too little GB volume, excess nitrates are not going to be your main problem as they are only toxic at very high levels.

Thanks chillidude,

I was trying to work out if you could stock more fish by planting only leafy green veges.

Cheers,

You need to think of stocking in relation to the amount of filtration you have available...
