Was curious about that one too BB... Nice wicking bed tho if it is one - is it yours F&F?

By the way Faye and F&F thanks heaps for the pics... Im starting to get excited about them now... think I just realised that I wasnt expecting too much up till then!

The carrots I planted were... (and being reheheally technical here)... the Purple one... and the one that looks more like a beetroot in shape than a carrot but is still orange

Thanks F&F,
might have to ask some details on that one when you visit... would be a much cheaper option than hydroton for root veggies.

BTW, the Mildura horticultural field days are on on Tues and Wed if you are looking for something to see while your here and are interested in that sort of stuff.

hoping Andrew can tell me tomorrow how busy we will be this week coming as we would love to spend some time getting to know you (and picking your brain) if you have the time to spare... will call tomorrow:)

 ... I think Andrew was just being modest by the sounds of things... (and he was also under instructions to listen and learn instead of talk off your ear too Milne  )

Hope you had a good visit and wish I was there instead of where I was!

Have send an e-mail F&F, looking forward to a chat...

Cheers :thumbleft:

PS: I DEFINITELY agree with the 'flying close to the wind' bit! We are pushing it, and wouldnt be surprised that our near future fish losses might just turn us into TRUE APers!

Yep unless you can get them out in one of those 500 litre tubs and give them some heat
and plenty of air
60 or 80 , 4 in silvers in 10 deg water where the tide rises and falls around 500 to 600 mm
is pushing it

Actually its 100 SPs... which is even worse!

Started cleaning out a couple of the duckweed beds yesterday which have had it. Just waiting on a pump today to clean out the bottoms which are full of dead duckweed roots... the yabbies have actually made hides in it theres so much of the stuff...

I feel another yabby feed coming on...

we got them from Age of Aquariums... normally $350 - they did me a great deal... 3 for $900 + free postage.

They are basically the same as the Pondmate pumps... heres the link...

Sorry, computer crashed and havent been able to get on till now...

Silvers and Yellowbelly are still fine but flashing... havent lost any.

Cod are another matter... think we have 10 left from the original 50 and still going.

Think its a fungal thing unfortunately.

On the bright side, we have hooked up a new spa pump which we started running today. Andrew had been testing the water temps till 6pm, and it is raising by 1.5 to 1.8 deg an hour. On the lowest setting the plumber thinks the thermostat usually runs to 18 degrees so we will be testing it out tomorrow...

Hi all... sorry for the long wait F&F... been trying to sort out this heater - its finally working properly. Had had probs with it switching off and called someone in to look at it - turned out the oversensitive sensors were getting excited about the insulation being to close to the flame, so now thats sorted we are on our way.

All cod gone, and golden perch are now starting to get pretty bad but havent lost any yet touch wood.

We have decided to salt the whole system to 5 parts, and try to get the temps up as high as we can to reduce the ich lifecycle so once we make a few modifications tomorrow we will be running the heater 24 hours, instead of just during the day and then turning the system off at night to conserve gas and temp loss. Tank water this morn was still at 14.5 which was pretty good considering the GBs were at 9. After running 6 hours today, temps were at 18 deg.
