After trying many different methods, and always resorting to emptying the swimming pool....this year...success! We tried out a new method that proved to be very successful. We attached a length of chain to one end of a net (big enough to cover the bottom and sides of the pool). We each held an end so the chains hung vertically to the bottom and dragged it all along the bottom (after removing the pump and pipes from the pool). We attached the other end of the net to the edge of the pool and added a couple of sinker weights to the net so it didn't all float, and when we reached the shallow end we just gathered it all up and ...voila...inside the net were our barra! (pictures are on our members thread).
It was very successful and we didn't have to empty the pool and refill it with 10,000 litres of water!

I was going to make a crowding net to push all the bigger fish down one end of the pool. But I've noticed that now I have a light on to attract insects, the largest fish sets up shop under the light and hunts off the smaller fish. If I leave a plastic net under that spot then all I have to do is lift it up and I can take out the largest fish.

That has been suggested a few times!! Unfortunately (or fortunately!!) the pool is too small!

Sounds like a good system! We tried a crowding net in our pool but it is such an odd shape the fish always managed to find some way out of it. Would be interested in how the net under the light idea goes....that could be a very easy way to harvest :thumbright:
