Dear BYAP Forum,

I learnt something today. Even if a tilapia fingerling is missing a fin and a tail it shouldn't be put in with your goldies. Things may seem fine for a few days, but then you'll find the goldies tails disappearing too.

Yours,
Abdul

hahaha so yea that happened today. The rest looked good, though the siphon has gone sticky again. As has the Pakiponics siphon. Very strange.

Would the Case of the Sticky Siphon have something to do with the heat/cold fluctuation? At any time, does it run better during the day, night, morning, or afternoon?

Not that I've noticed Bill, but how would a temp change affect the siphon?

All looked well today, saw the big tilapia coming up for the little pellets today, first time I saw it, what a feeling! Got to get some bigger balls for them ;)

the pieces and parts can expand and contract with the hot and cold temps.. could have an air leak?

Uncharted waters for me. I have no experience, formulas, or training, just gut feeling. It may have something to do with the atmospheric pressure inside the bell. Works fine in hot weather, not so well in cold.
Kinda like my bones.

+1 on the sneaky air leak. That's always a possibility.

Went up to take a look today, everything seemed fine, though badly in need of a top up. All the fish looked fine, but a tilapia was hanging out in the shallow end, just like the big one that died a few days ago. Lemon grass looked really big. All else seemed fine, in the dark.

Awesome to see your system, and exciting to hear about your new system coming soon!

I will be purchasing an aquarium tank (maybe two or three...??) tomorrow.

I am going to raise fish and attempt to recycle the water with aquaponic techniques. I am very excited.

I am going to set this up in my living room, and I will move my computer into the living room, so that my web cam can take pictures and even live video of the system.

Yee haw!

Keep up the good work Abdul...shame shame for ignoring your system for so long...hope I don't do that!

lol

take care,

jeff c
