Hi all,

My system is pretty new though I have been preparing my setup for a year. I have a 800L fishtank and 550L growbed. I am using a 1400L/H 43w pump from fishtank to growbed and it takes around 25min to flood and 10min to drain. So far I have some strawberry, lettuce and spinach plants growing and about 50 Tilapia. I am located in Malang, Indonesia.

Hassan.

Hey abuzza  I've spent a fair bit of time in indo on a cruising yacht, absolutely love it :)
A couple of things
50 fish is 2x the amount of fish you should have, especially in a new system. Also those blocks going into the FT could reek havoc with your PH

I heard that with tilapia one can have about 1 fish for every 10L of water which should give my fish plenty of room? They don't seem to have any problems so far.
Yes the blocks do keep the PH a bit high but I hope eventually it will balance out. It was the only way I could support the gravel filled growbed. I don't have space to put the growbed anywhere else.

You might get away with that with Tilapia... but not with Australian Native Fish...

Selamat Pagi Hassan

Welcome to the forum. You have a neat looking system there.

How big are your tilapia ?

We don't have a lot of experience with them in Australia but some of us have studied them in literature.

Also, what are those bricks or blocks in the FT made of ?
