Hello again.

Just bought 2 IBC tanks,that had molasses in them.

gunna make chop system,with one as tank,one cut for 2 grow beds.

Will get this up and running,to learn,and enjoy,wilst getting bits together for my larger system,with 1900 ltr.fish tank.(that i already bought,with a rush of blood,before i realised how much,and many grow beds needed,would cost.)

what size pump is needed for a IBC system,with 1000ltr tank,and 2 grow beds?

If I am getting your message right, you do not intend to use your 1900 litres fish tank because of concerns of how much growbeds it takes for it?

Not sure where you got your info from, but I think the 1900 fish tank would work just fine as long as you stock to your growbed capacity. So say you have 500l of growbed, 20-25 fishes, add another 500l growbed later, 40-50 fishes.

Don't get too fuss abt the 2:1 growbed to tank ratio.

yeh i would use the 2900L ft, 2 IBC halves for GBs, and a IBC for a sump, and expand as necessary a 100) L sump should handle up to 2000L GBs

Will use my 1900ltr fish tank,and 2 IBC's as grow beds.

Can i cut them sideways to make larger grow beds.

Its so great to finally have someone to talk to about this.

so far i have had plenty of conversations about aquaponics,however they are all with myself,lol.

Most guys cut them in half from side to side but should be the same from top to bottom....Although it will be marginally bigger growing area.

well you can try, but you need to seal the lid, so most people use it the other way around . .
you will need a sump with 1900L FT and 2000L GB, atleast 1000L sump

measured it up,,

if i cut it lengthways,i can get 2 grow beds at 300mm,and the bit in middle with bottom tap,and top lid is cut out,so the grow beds are the same depth,and no lid/tap that bit is thrown out

will then frame it up with wood,and brush on outside to make it look great.

as to wood,when framing the top,level with grow bed,i need to find a wood with no treatment,so no leaching,,,any ideas?

Also i will take a picture of the fish tank,i bought it from polytanks who make them in bendigo,
it is a stock water trough,so UV stablized,and food grade plastic.

I paid $295,for a factory second,has slight blemish,they normally retail from marong waterstore for $430 which is still very cheap.

Not sure about the timber side.

I guess if it doesn't over hang the grow beds it wont leech into the system (or very minimal amounts will which the system should cope with).

1900 ltr trough i bought for $295 from waterstore, in bendigo.

they also have the same in 330 ltr for $120

True - but would make an excellent grow bed.

Perhaps turn the IBC's into fish tank and sump and use the trough as a grow bed.

yeh that does look a little shallow, how deep is it? i think the byap ones are about 600mm tahts the shallowest i would go

Yes it is a little shallow.

It is 500mm deep.

but will make a lid of mesh or timber,to stop suicides.

As i said,i had a rush of blood when i bought it.

But would consider growbed

the 330 litre ones are $110 and what i had planned for grow beds,they are 400mm deep

ok i would purchase another IBC (or two ) and use it (them) as a sump. use your 2 existing IBCs as FTs, and your pond tub as a GB. CHIFT PIST into the pond (which is sitting on the floor) then dig the sump into the ground
