Oh I know what you all have been waiting for

Sorry I still haven't got the live cam online, still struggling with that one.
But I got some video footage from the Fish Cam!!!!!!! and here it is

What are all the small floaty bits? Dinner? Air bubbles?

Small floaty bits are just particles of suspended solids. The IR nature of the camera really highlights them. Kinda like driving down the highway at night with the lights on into snow flurries.

Wow - neat-Oh. It looks like some of them have been bruised/bumped? They are huge!

Yea, there do appear to be a few bumps and scrapes but most seem to have healed up well. They can look a bit battle worn after netting. Catfish skin is rather sensitive and they don't take well to handling. I try to minimize disturbances in their tank as much as I can and I've started doing a net dip with salt water and aloe before netting now to see if that helps reduce the incidence of illness after harvesting from the tank.

Live fish cam is currently in the Tower system tank with the bluegill. The one in the catfish tank has gone blurry.

Fun to see the fish, those bluegill don't seem to slow down.

Are the bluegill eating regular fish feed?

They are eating aquamax 400 grower feed which has a protein % somewhere between 42 and 46 I think. I've used my grain mill to grind it a bit smaller for them since many are still to small to get a whole pellet in their mouth. I was planning to switch to the Aquamax 4000 when they were bigger but I might need to find the stuff with the smaller pellets for the bluegill.

Been having some struggles with cameras and internet technology and new routers etc.

I had been doing ok with my old linksys router for quite some time (ole wireless b router) but it had enough ports and we usually didn't have to power cycle it too often unless there were several of us trying to go online wirelessly.

However, with the addition of some IP cameras, I ran out of ports and the need to power cycle the thing was getting annoying.

So, I did some searching and actually found two wireless routers out there that also had 8 wired ports on them. I did a bit of research into the reviews of the products and was quickly turned away from the Netgear one due to so many horrible reviews and even the good reviews only gave it like 2 stars. So I went with the D-Link. It had far better reviews but still not perfect but almost nothing gets a perfect review so I picked one up. I am sure glad I got it locally!!!!!!! I was on the phone to tech support only about an hour after I started messing with the thing, they were only sort of helpful and I spent a lot of time repeating myself and on hold. I was able to get to the internet with their help but that was about all they were willing to help with. If anything else was involved they wanted you to call some one else. Like when they were able to view my camera on the internet but I wasn't, they wanted me to call the camera tech support (obviously the camera was working, just my router wasn't letting me loop back to see it using the WAN address!!!! Only internally with the LAN address) Yet they couldn't simply tell me that OH, sorry our routers don't support NAT reflection (aka loopback) instead they send me to call tech support for my firewall software or computer manufacturer or the camera tech support. Took me three seperate phone calls and hours of being on hold before I finally got them to figure out that it was the router not supporting loopback which was the problem. UGH

ANYway, Today after I finally got the admission out of them, I packed the thing back up and took it back to the store (why I'm glad I got it locally) and spent about an hour in the store (most of it on one of their terminals to the internet to ask cisco if the router I was about to buy would do what I wanted, even took their tech support a long time of going to ask some one else what I was talking about. You would think tech support for a company that does networking as their bread and butter would have a vague idea of some networking stuff.)

So I got home with the new Linksys router plus an 8 port switch and had it all installed and happy and tested in less than an hour.

Go figure.
anyway the upside is I think the live camera streams are a little smoother now!!!

Been there. How did you relieve the stress? Punch some holes in the wall? The worst part is if you read through the manual, usually you know more than the tech support does.

Well the manuals have gotten worse too. And as the one guy at the store said, it's almost like if you can't simply take it home plug it in and figure it out for yourself, probably better off just returning it and trying a different one.

I must say, I'm comfortable with how the linksys interface works and the routers and switches are just easy to deal with in my experience. Don't bother with their range extenders though, they are a pain in the

Anyway, that part of the technology working better so I can go back to trying to figure out how to make more cameras work underwater.
