Havent confirmed this but I heard that Bedfordale Barramundi has closed up. Apparently couldnt make any money out of it which seems to be the norm with stand alone re-circ aquaculture systems these days. The large increases in electricity prices have pretty much taken away what little profit there was.

Bugger......

Guess we won't be getting our big barra from him this year then.. Gees and he was only doing it part time at his house/property.

Go for a full on lighting storm Arbe - there's some free electricity in that as well as the rain.

I would have thought that keeping Barra in Perth in a recirc system would be pretty close to impossible with most alternative power sources.

You mean currently commonly existing alternative energy sources I presume ?

Anyway you look at it though you have to do a lot of heating to keep Barra in Perth.. Then there's the pumping..

I wonder how it works out with total energy costs if you look at growing Barra a little further north, then transporting them down here rather than trying to grow and heat them here...
