Welcome, Doze!

Check your fish regulations. I think tilapia are illegal in Texas. At least certain strains are.

Thanks. I've been looking around and it seems they are, or at least require a license to possess, save for Mozambique tilapia. "Mozambique Tilapia is the only species of tilapia that is legal to stock in private impoundments in Texas without a permit"

Tilapia are fine here in Texas. Overton Fishery sells them, although they are a little far (ok - a lot far) from Austin.

Here are a few Mossambica suppliers in Tx:

Arms Bait Company and fish farm (Dublin) 254-879-2797 (armsfishfarm@utexas.net)
Boatcycle Co (Henderson)-903-657-4287 (www.boatcycle.com)
Danburry Fish Farms (Danbury)- 979-922-9414 (www.danburyfishfarms.com)
Herrmanns Fish Farm (Robstown)- 361-387-7819 (herrmannsfish@aol.com, www.hermansfishfarm.com)
Humpback Bluecat Hatchery (Halletsville)- 361-798-5934 (henneke@cvtv.net, www.kennethhenneke.com)
Petrophysh Aquaculture (Waller)- 713-248-2848 (rschmid2@aol.com)

This is from a 2008 Aquaculture directory I have so they might not all still be in buisness but some will be.
