yesterday I landed 6kg of salt into the 1000l FT,(6ppm)
this should dilute down to 3ppm when it mixes with the 1000l in sump
fish don't seem to mind it!

this may be a silly question, but can you still feed at normal rates while treating the system??
Trout have not gone off the feed!

Yes, you can still feed... just cut back a bit so that you're not pushing the bio-filtration...

All is well with system ATM. Trout are about the same size as the silvers already. Silvers suck they are pretty boring and bearley grew over the summer. they are about 100mm but there are a few that are smaller and would probably get done by the trout if I can't get them out in the next month.

Once again it's been a while.
All has been well with the system and fish since the salt has been in.
Trout are growing like mad. Attached Video is of the trout feeding about 2-3 weeks ago.
weather has been pretty poor the last week and not much heat has been put into the system so the silvers are not doing much.
replanted system about 3 weeks ago as well.

Awesome vid mate, good to see they are growing.
Seems to be a bit of solids on the bottom of your tank too. Mine has improved heaps since installing the SLO and fixing the syphon, plus the trout movement helps too. My sumps are filthy but the remaining trout in them will hopefully be coming out in a month or so. 100mm+ is the plan then into the farm dam.

Hey Mattyry, same story for me - silvers bout the same size and now on pause until oct/nov. Good vid too. I'm getting some trout soon, just got to get some time on the weekend. Havent been able to get my sh*t together to do it. Good to see your planting though, Yay for winter crops! - how cold is it!

Yeah mate a fair bit of solids. the Video is in my first system which does not incorporate the SLO.
I have to say that my first system has been faultless except for the accumulated solids that can build up. normally I'll clean it out every now and then. i only cleaned it out twice last year and watered the dig garden and it went berserk... I only have 4 SP and 8 trout in it so it won't build up as fast

How's the feed situation going?

Hay guys,

I have a serious problem with slugs in 1 GB,
I've tried to flood the bed, and manually picked them off, come in at night time and find them nibbling and have been pulling between 5-10 of the little buggers off each night for about 10 days.

any other suggestions??
Is their any other way to treat them..

I remember reading another thread where someone had a slug problem. I think the answer was beer traps.

Great looking system Mattry. There are some Iron Phosphate slug baits that are supposed to be safe around fish and have no known effect on worms that might work - here is a link to some info - http://www.weekendgardener.net/how-to/snails-slugs.htm You want to look at number 9 on the list - the organic snail baits. I have never tried this but I think it would work and have used Sluggo on my dirt garden. Having said this I would pass it by some of the others in the forum before trying it. Even if you don't wind up using it in the system you could sprinkly it around the beds to keep additional slug invaders out of the beds.

Beer traps have worked a treat.
trapped about 30 tiny little buggers.
Noticed a couple of nights ago that the trout didn't hit the food very much. Sometimes they do this because I spook them a little when entering, but today in the morning they didn't feed at all, so i had a quick look in the tank and saw a small silver floating upside down next to the SLO.
Tonight they feed like crazy..
What do you thinks wrong with him??
Not quite sure if its a disease or if the other fish just picked on him??

My guess is the trout stressed him to death

Yep trout have been known to stress silvers
