With all this good rain i connected a hose to the overflow of the tank and collected 400 litres of water it makes you wonder how much goes to waste.

Your stuff is fantastic Jim. Are you seeing any signs of deficiencies, iron or potassium, in your AP grown plants at this stage - doesn't look like it from the pics.

Hah! - I missed the basil also and went back and checked all your pics, then it dawned on me what you meant (only 2 days into the new year and I got caught  )

Gives me a lot to aspire too, looking at your setup

one working filled with perlite and planted with parsnip seeds, hope it works.

So how is it or did/didn't it go.

Think a few of us are interested in some root crops and there's a couple of us in process of experimenting with Perlite

Hi all i think it is working very well check last pics and you be the judge.
but there is a bit of fine tuning to get the perlite right.

Ok, sorry Jim I thought that maybe you might have had only one or two beds with Perlite... so are all your beds perlite, covered with gravel??

Specifically how have the parsnips gone? Doh... just checked back to your "previous" pictures.

Ok they were obviously striking ok, any idea how the root developement is going?

And

Only one bed of perlite with gravel around drain to act as a filter or it ends up in the fish tank and on on top to stop algey forming.

I have just bought 600 litres of perlite. Hydro guy said don't do vermiculite, it swells up and holds 150% of its weight in water. I thought the main problem would be it getting crushed by the 10cm of gravel on the top. so went with perlite.
