No probelems of that sort yet Freo, though the lemongrass did a number on my forearms while I pulled the Basil out, hurtful that plant is.

I plan on either putting a top layer of small river rocks onto the clay shards, or use filter cans as planting points for the plants so they'll never be planted straight into the shards, well other than the basil that is.

So apparently I did an oopsie yesterday  After working on the system I left it unplugged, very strange, went up to find it all silent and still. Fish and plants all looked pretty okay though, fed the fish very little.

The water in the bathtub has taken on a definate tea type colour, no doubt because of the clay shards, but again the fish seem fine. The basil bush looked a little droopy so I gave it a foliar spray, hopefully ought to make it, fingers crossed.

Got a whole bunch of chilis out of the dirt planters today too.

Hahahah Bill, I'm not exactly sure. My dad had brought some back from a Thailand business trip a bit back so I planted it. Am told it gets used in all sorts of thai dishes, especially soups, am about to try in a just a little bit, will report the results promptly.

Today on the other hand I wasn't prompt at all, slept the day away :/

Yea I know Freo  but hey I was in writing mode, so did get most of my writing done for a sitcom I've been asked to write, and I have a few more writing projects on my plate so will a lot of 'slacking' I think to come.

Thats great advice vlt, I'm going to try that in the morning and will let you know how I fared, thanks :]

And here are this weeks videos! Took a longmelon off as well. Sorry its so dark :/ Added a capful of seaweed extract and topped everything up, siphon seems to be running just fine now.

Got a couple of new leads on AP opportunities, will make sure I don't slack on those. One of them is for restaurant AP so I'm thinking Nate style towers, exciting stuff

All seemed fine today, lost some dirt tomatoes to over ripening, will probably lose a couple more as didn't harvest them.

Wow, you're friend's system is coming along great! Congrats!

And your system is awesome, not sure what kind of vegetable the long melon is, some kind of squash? Maybe it's the abundance of water, but that would make the leaves curl, not the fruit...?

And I loved the other video that showed your face, you are very handsome :D

If you don't mind my saying so....

I may reference your videos in pitching aquaponics idea to my boss, he is from India, and I would love to motivate him to try a system in his home country, where he says he has many farms, including a huge mango plantation.

Ok, take care, abdul....cutie...!

later,

jeff c

Hahahah thanks Jeff :wave1: No I don't mind, if you troll back through my thread you'll find much reference to my narcissism 8) If you like I can help you make some videos in urdu as well that your boss in India, and his team, would have an easier time understanding especially as I'd use local names, send me a pm and we can figure it out. And I forget who but there is someone on the forum who grew a mango tree in AP as well, successfully even!

The longmelons are actually long cucumbers an aunt told me today.

All looked fine as before today. Pretty sure one of the plecos has gotten into the SLO though :/

If you're growing lemon grass, might as well grow some galanga (galangal). It is doing OK in my backyard test. Treat it as ginger (bury a piece of root just below the surface).
These two, plus leaves of Kaffir lime, and you can make a lot of wonderful Thai dishes...

Just had to throw that in. They grow soo easy. "Rare ingredients? I've got those growing on my roof, be right back"

Cool, you're awesome.

Actually, I just went on my first date tonight with a girl.

It went well.

LOL

I am being serious. Anyways, I will have to show him some of your videos if he likes the idea.

You are the man, Abdul.

Later,

Jeff C
