This is the "first fruit" from our BYAP system (except for an apple cucumber that was eaten before I could take a picture).

OMG, :) I am still amazed at times when I see the size of things or the abundance produced in a system. I have recently seen some of the biggest corms of garlic that were brought in by a customer and grown in an AP system, my inlaws were italian and I have seen plenty of home grown garlic over the years.
Was that grown from seed or seedling? Hope you save the seeds, look delicious. :notworthy:

Just a seed placed in the media. I think the seeds came from Eden seeds.

This one probably grew so big because the hot weather seemed to stop pollination of the rest of the vine, so all the energy went into this one. Fortunately we now have some little melons on the other vines.
I'm surprised how quickly it changed from green to yellow. If it hadn't been picked this morning, it would have gone after the 36 degree day we are having.
The vines are so easy to grow because they don't take up room on the grow bed, just hang over the edges.

How was the flavor? The flesh looks like a cantalope. I've been looking at those in my seed catalog and now I think I'll give them a try.

These were Eden seeds, directly planted in the GB. Interestingly, two of the three fruit had orange flesh, and the third one was light green. I think there may have been some unwanted contamination in the seeds, as they are bee pollenated and so the pollen could have come from a long distance. I believe they recommend an exclusion zone (from other rockmelon) of 2km, which isn't feasible unless you live at an oasis.

I recommend you keep stumpy-tailed blue heelers well away from the fruit, we just lost a foot long one to her.
