Built using parts and materials found locally including a free 55 gallon aquarium sitting in someones front yard that was getting thrown out :thumbright: . Built a simple 2 by 4 frame around it to match. Grow bed frame built with just (7) 2 by 4s. 6.7 cu ft grow bed 5ft. by 2ft.. Think I'll use it as a Tilapia nursery. Brought some plants in from the big garage system to start. First time they've seen the real light of day in front of this big window.

Very cool downstreamdave :thumbleft:

Ever thought of adding rollers under the ft so you can have it all the way underneath most times and roll it out for maintenance? :dontknow:

Very nice! Would make for a great isolation hospital or a school system or as you say a nursery. Good woodworking skills. Would be great if you could post a plan with cutting list but I guess people would need to make it to suit their tank and tub.

Actually, I did think about the rollers, but it doesn't really stick out that far. They would have to be very low profile casters because of the clearance with this particular type of aquarium. The grow bed frame is built with only seven 2 X 4s with 3" scrap wood left over, so the heighth of the system is maxed at 32 1/4" The aquarium is only about 15" wide including the framework. The first one built had 2 by 4 skids under the aquarium leaving no clearance for the aqurium to slide under.

this is nothing more than General Intrigue, but does CorporalChaos refer to...

cor·po·ral/ˈkôrp(ə)rəl/
Noun: A low-ranking noncommissioned officer in the armed forces, in particular (in the US Army)

or

cor·po·ral/ˈkôrp(ə)rəl/
of the human body; bodily; physical: corporal suffering. 2. Zoology. of the body proper, as distinguished from the head and limbs

Eh?

:)
