1) How come I put 25 Barra in there but when we came to take them out there were only 5? (They did taste really good tho!) I have not had any floaters. Likewise Silvers went from 25 to about 15.

2) Can I put small Silvers in with large silvers and not get them eaten?

Thanks to Gavin Nash for helping me catch the Barra's.

Well a couple of possibilities...
- bigger barra eat smaller barra
- fish jumping out and removed by animals before you noticed
- birds that prey on fish

Big silvers will not eat small silvers but barra will eat small silvers if you have them in the same tank...

Overall a couple of photos of your system might help some people pointing out possibilities...

iv got 30 silver perch in a 1000L tank in my display system.

They range from 30mm right upto 400mm and one thing iv noticed is they all school around the biggest one, the littlies follow the biggest one around the tank.

also have 10 catfish in there too and the silvers havnet bothered them either.
