Yep Dipel for the caterpillars, can get it from B and isnt toxic. the aphids i would take time to remove (brush or hose) them off (make sire they dont land back in your gb) then spray with a chilli spray of some description, hopefully with repeat application that will stop/reduce their numbers :)

fish - yourve got a new system so dont stress, though it looks liek youve only got a 200L FT, so probably a bit small for them, also temp swings might kill them, again as result of a small water mass. can you post any water test results form when they were dying / now?

trout - i am gettign mine today (now actually  ) so when your tank drops below 20, and your happy it will stay there or damn close to it, then swap over :)

Just installed a new 1000 Ltr tank and a fourth half barrel grow bed today, hopefully with the new grow bed I will get better results with the plants. Lets hope the couple of Barra I have left will survive the next couple of weeks to the trout arrive.

Can I use 25 -30 trout with about 400 Ltr grow beds or is pushing it to far?

good to see you got a decent ft :D i think 30 fosh if puching it, maybe 15-20 for 400L, but even 20 i'd be getting nervous as they grew . . . :dontknow:

I agree with what Rupert said. No more than 15 and 10 would be better in my opinion. Good to see you got the new tank should be easier on the fish. Make certain you put a cover on once the trout are in or there will be some trying to swim on the patio :) .

Those trout are fun!
Yes you can add pool salt if you like 1ppt = 1kg per 1000 litres up to 3ppt.

Good to see it working for you King... Though as the other say, go easy with that many fish and that much filtration, we all know how much fun it is feeding trout..

I have replanted a crop for winter on 01/05/2011 except one cherry tomato vine and three capsicum plants which have been in the system since November 2010.
