Hi,

I have a system ( 200 gallons) with pond, tank, and sump tank. I have been using one pump for a while but it has stoped working. Since this, I switched to a newer, but smaller pump. A month later it also has stoped. The pump is on a timer and when it switches on you can hear it "buzzing" but the blades dont spin unless you toy with it, or knock it agianst something to get them moving agian. Of course this will not work for AP flood and drain since I can't always be there to knock them back on. I do not know the type of pump, or manufacture. One is older than the other, but both are having the same problem. I would rather not buy one if I can salvage one from these 2. Anyone handy at working on pumps???

Any help will be appreciated!

Sounds like a capacitor problem... or possibly the "blades" are jammed...

I've managed to get the newer one working. I do not think I can get into the box, nor would I want to since it would break the seal. Its a submersable pump btw. I forgot to mention that. Would soaking it in viniger help? I tried it months ago but it didnt seem to help at all, but Im not sure If i did it right.

Can you post a pic of it or a link to model.
Most submersibles can access the impeller either by a couple screws or by removing the guard and twisting a lock ring.

Quite possible you have something inside jamming the "blades".
