I got these yesterday,

120 rainbow trout, 90-110 mm.

Kept them in washing baskets overnight in 2 1000 litre IBC'S

I was going to clean the tanks and do a bit of light maintenance today, but come this arvo it just wasn't going to happen, so the trout are set free 60 in each IBC.

Cheers.

Hi Fish food,

Good advise as per usual, yes I hope they will get to about 500 grams each in October, then I'll cull all the trout and add the barra again.

I just have to remember pristine water and heaps of air.

Cheers.

Yeah, I had around 75 in each IBC at one stage, and it is a major struggle to keep the water clean.

And by october they should be over 750g not 500. Probably not with so many in small tanks though.

Yep, October is the month, when I plan the barra to be in 1000 litres and heated to 20 C plus, November on spread over 2 tanks then heating possibly in March.

I thought, 30 Kg of fish per thousand litres of fish tank max, was a general guideline.
I know trout grow a lot and eat heaps, So how many trout per IBC is a good number for a 6 month grow out, is a good number in people's opinion?

Cheers.

I'm was planning 40 for my IBC sump filled to @700-800ltrs.
Have been converting beds to constand floof to reduce the fluctuations in water level...

The other side of the equation is... 2(x)growbed to 1(x) fishtank

Its better to stock to growbed volume.

Yeah I have about 2000 litres of grow beds with pretty much a full house of veges, tomatoes are going ballistic and there's heaps of them bazil, strawberries, and there's a few others in as well.

I'll post a pic or two when I get a spare minute.

I agree that 4000 litres of grow bed would be better but, for me, it's a matter of barrowing a few more tonne up a gerzillion stairs by hand.

I may need to add another IBC or two to the system along with the cubic capacity of media filled grow bed.

Either that or eat about 20-30 trout when they are a couple of months old.

Cheers.
