Hi all just a warning i have just seen an ibc that was taken out of its cage and buryed in the ground and filled with water when the ground around it became wet it swelled when it dried it shrank and dirt trickled down the space when it got wet and so on the tank was pushed in about 2 inches all round so dirt pushing in has more power than water pushing out so my recomendation is leave it in the cage and line with something solid like cool room clading also the reason they took it out was the uv got to it and the top collapsed. They still make a good cheap fish tank i have used 2 hope this helps the newbies

sound advice F&F. My ibc still has the cage around it, but with the lid cut off. as the water level drops about 20 cms before a top up i have noticed that the lack of water pressure (less at the top anyway) has made the upper sides bend in.

All you lucky newbies, everythings going to be served up on a platter for you from our trials and tribulations. ;)

Im glad I left my cage on my 2 and chucked my off cuts of wood in around them (although I did this to get rid of the wood, helping maintain the shape etc is just an added bonus  )
I am still working on a cover for the bits sticking out thopugh as I want to shield it from UV - will most likely box it in with old wood
