by offset i meant you could have them 90 degrees apart instead of murrays that are 180 degrees apart. you could have more holes and some would get the morning sun all the middle and the rest the afternoon sun. Sorry about the confusion.

That it could - it definately would add to the beds (use up that last bit of space etc!), not to mention look good , like a wall of green!

Hi, I went to the plumbing shop Friday and asked about lead in the pvc - yes there is still down pipe made with lead in it......when you buy pvc for the "Grow Tower" ask for pvc without lead....it's a bit more expensive but worth every cent.
See this darn Aquaponics...I am in Toowoomba ...last cup-of-tea before I leave to go back to Brisbane and I just have to teke a look at the Forum.

Muzz,

I got my info on it not being produced with lead since 198X from.......actually cant remember where from. I will look it up again and dig deeper into this!

The source did say that the orange pvc conduit used by sparkies still had lead in the pigment though..........interesting. Thats for the heads up

I will look a bit deeper Steve, see if the bloke at Reece really knows what he is talking about. I will ask the people at Tradelink, the other big plumbing supply place.

That is the same thing I was told by our maintenance crew - said not to use it in the water, not even as shelters for the fish/yabby

At last, I have a tower set up with strawberries from VB.

I threw a handful of gravel out of my flower pot filter into the top about 300mm down and some more fresh gravel over that, hooked it all up for continuous flow.
The water percolates really well down the pipe.
It goes into a small sump and is then picked up by a bilge pump to be returned to the fish tank.

Dirt from the gravel has made the fish tank really dirty, but these Jade Perch are Australian Natives and they are supposed to be able to live in dirty water...(this will test them)

It is all a bit untidy but we will see how it goes.

I hope the bacteria will spread down the tube from the handful I put in the top

Murray
