These are my bluegil that I caught at a local pond. One was injured by a hook, the others were all caught in a fish trap. I added a good amount of salt to my system. I cannot find a conversion from ppt to SG, and I have a nice temperature compensating SG saliinity meter that I'd like to use. The fish have lots of little white speckles on them. I looked at my bottle of ICK guard and it says not for fish that will be consumed. Not sure what to do here.

I had not fed them for a few days as they wouldn't eat pellets and I was worried about ammonia. My ammonia read 0.0 for the last 4 days. I have not test in a couple of days since. I have the anacharis in my pond to eat up the nitrate till my veggies get bigger.

They are moving fine and have been eating pellets lately. My BSF colony is nearing operation, soon I'll be able to provide them grubs to eat, which I imagine they will like better.

Pretty much right on 3 ppt from reading my meter. I also did an ammo test and it just read 0.0.

Good news.

Yes, it's definitely "Ich"... and a severe case....

You seem to have already a level of about 3ppt.... but I'd either go a shock and awe salt bath to 10-12ppt for 30 minutes....

Or at least up the salt to 6ppt... and maintain for 2 weeks...

1ppt = 1kg of salt per 1000L... that's about 2.3lb/265gall for you guys...

It likely is/was ICK, but thankfully it appears to be in remission now. The fish are looking a lot better. They are supposed to be coppernose bluegill. I'll popst some nice pics when I take some. They are fun fish. I fed one of them a crane fly yesterday, and it make an audible "crack" sound as it struck the bug. Cool.

Well, the Ick seems to be totally gone, but I lost 3 fish yesterday. They all had their tails chewed up, bigtime. There were a couple fish that were larger, and it looks like a little bluegil on bluegil violence. Stocking density is not real high, perhaps its too low. I am betting ten small fish in about 110 gallons or so. Dunno what to do about it now. It sure blows to come home to dead fish. :-x
