Cannas also work well for filtering we used to have them on our leach drain to stop the smell in summer :)

One thing I am seeking plenty of feedback on is forum thought about waterproofing or sealing the tanks. I'd like to avoid anything chemically based if possible, even though there are a lot of 'potable' coatings. Wondering if anyone has experience with concrete or grout mixes, bentonite clay, anything of that nature. I guess last choice would be a butyl liner of some sort.

So....with this being the case I'm assuming the grey water will go to the growbeds first and then the FT....Good Luck Eli, until i see it working I'm not holding much faith in it myself as soaps, dishwashing liquids etc are bad news.
Although I have just read your thread again and see no mention of an actuall Fish tank?

Sorry, I completely gave the wrong impression.

You might want to ask Stevesmart, he has done a great fish tank that he sealed with something... :dontknow:

Not too sure where his thread is, things have been moving too quickly on here lately to keep up, it might be a bit buried by now.

Ahhh naaa, here it is... viewtopic.php?f=18&t=6895

The future inlet from house. This is the top end of the system, and will be filled with gravel and reeds/grasses.
