Filling the blocks with concrete will add a lot of strength. Can then seal it with liner or a paintable sealer. I used a rubber based one called pondseal that is flexible to a degree on my concrete tank.

Formwork unless you can reuse the timber does add up in cost.

Ive built a brick pond (single layer rendered inside and out) and pond seal and it didnt leak in the 5 years I owned that house,done it twice at 2 different houses, same results.
Bricks were free in Melbourne (if you asked the right person nicely),no bricks in Qld everything is blocks and you have to buy them.
They build swimming pools out of blocks here because you don't need a concreting expert just a block layer.
My other problem is no ute and miles from plastic tanks, yet close to a block supply and $40 delivery.
Bit of mucking around, at my pace, Petrocelli style, might be fun.
End result should look good.
Raised brick growbeds on cement sheet bases will be the experimental stuff.
My patio is just a suspended thick piece of cement sheet with tiles on it.

i seen them build a Retaining wall using those blocks and using Liquid nails to join them then filled with concrete as they went. think it was BHG or somthing.....

id be worried with No Physical Joins that it would all move n fall apart.

but jeez it looks good will consider something like this when we build.

Your tanks were built with mortar? What about reinforcing rebar?

I did not build a tank with dry stack but I did build my lower wall of greenhouse with them. I coated them with a surface bonding concrete and it is very strong.

Also poured a concrete tank all at once. Kind of a pain but I did not know what i was doing, but it worked out. ended up having to fill voids with hydraulic cement and I painted it with a waterproof paint.

Certainly looks like you know what you're doing..

Finally got the computer set up and sort of working after moving everything to the new house, so I'm doing some catching up on my reading. Nice setup mmcelvy. I have to agree with Joel, it does look like you know what you're doing.
