Well I have my small version up and running. Still trying to get it to cycle. My ammonia levels are extrmemely high-- 9.2ppm  I've been using fish emulsion and bat poop for the plants. I have some compost tea going as well. Hopefully the tea will get the ammonia reducing bacteria going. I've taken some of the soil from where my cats like to go.

I've included my work in progress-- the framing of the green house above my old in swimming pool. Once I get the small one cycled I move onto making the deep end the fish pond. That should give me 500 - 750 gallon ft easily.

Is it wrong to just sit and watch the system fill and drain. I could waste hours listening to it gurgle and drip?

There is a guy near wickenburg on craigslist with tilapia fry for 50cents. Is your model after the garden pool guy?

It already has. It's the metal used for stucco. Sharp as a razor. Everyone I reach in there I get cut. Other than that what do u foresee being a problem-it's aluminum.

Hey thanks, I was just going to start looking around for fish.- once I get the ammonia converted.
Yeah the pool guy did the same thing, but he did not line his fish pond. Nor is he doing flood and drain. I was pondering going over to see his set up but he wants $$.

How much did the guy charge, was it like $10? In a way I can understand charging for a tour, if you're a busy person and you can only do it at non-family hours or something. It is their house after all. Maybe you could offer a gift of fish food instead...

$50 for 10 people. So u have to either pay 50 or round up a bunch of people and split the costs.

I think it's supposed to be a 5 dollar "donation". He has a meetup group on meetup.com for giving out tours. I thought about going over to take a look but haven't yet.
