Thanks netab32, Wal and rupert peeps are real helpfull on here.. I did change my mind about that setup the guy called back days after I left a message for him. My Idea is the CHIFT PIST setup, IBC container to a BYAP grow bed (being the optimum 300mm depth and a good size) to a sump from salvaged material say a buried bath or smaller cut IBC that contains yabbies, marron and or fingerlings. I will source my plumbing ect.. from BYAP but dont know what method they use for flood and drain in their CHIFT PIST setup. IS BELL SYPHON A GOOD IDEA. I will come to BYAP to check out their CHIFT PIST and Im not sure when Ill have the time.. . I would like to know how it drains?

Chift Pist is predicated around a single coninuously running pump and bell siphons...

The BYAP kits are different in that they use a timer activated pump sequence.. typically 15/45 on/off... and overflow standpipes...

hey wal Haven't struck a blow yet. Ive been doing some costing ect.. But still working 12 hours per day everyday. It seems to be pretty expensive to do it the way I want. I want to get it set up properly straight away and have it running well with backup pumps ect.. so If Im away for a few days all my house mate has to do is feed fish and pick veggies. When I can get time off Ill be hitting the salvage yards trying to cut costs as I need to build a greenhouse for GB and a shade cloth enclosure for the FT. also gotta buy tools.

Well Trev, it is great fun to get in there, get your hands dirty and trying to make things and all, but if you are away a lot, I would suggest that you buy a kit from BYAP... Seems like a lot of money but if you really work out the cost against how many hours you could spend messing around with things that may not work the first time, and compare it to the money you could have earned at work if you were not messy around, I think you will find that you are better off with a kit...

Hows that design going Trev? Sorry I didn't give you too many answers when you came here the other day, but that's how it goes with AP, sometimes you just get to see more possibilities rather than narrow things down. :laughing3:

At least you have some bits now so you will be able to get going, did you dig that whole yet??? :)

Hi guys

I just bought an IBC from CCR Plascon in Maddington for $70 , pressure cleaned and leak tested.
They also had blue barrels for $25

Doesn anyone know where to get 20mm gravel? A few landscape places only sell pea gravel.

Pea gravel is perfect gorot, I've used it in many systems.. If it's the pea gravel with individual rocks about 10mm, thats fine.
