Hi,
My wife and I live near Charleston, South Carolina. In 2010 we stepped out of the house to plant our first organic garden...six raised beds.

Since then we've nearly tripled our planned operation and have included our first aquaculture/aquaponics experimental system. I started buy components from Ebay and Craigslist over Christmas.

Here's a video...this is part 4 and the latest in the series.

We know a whole lot more now than when we started a couple of weeks ago. It's been a lot of fun. If we succeed (meaning fish live/grow and veggies produce fruit) then we'll move to the next step of growing Tilapia and more plants.

I'm looking for AP folks in the Charleston area. We would love to see other backyard operations.

Regards,
Chuck

Hi Chuck

Well done on your first system. Where are the pictures? - I don't see them in your post?

regards

Hey Chuck and Grace. I lived in Charleston for a few years. Nice place. Your not to far from the creator of barrel ponics, Travis Hughey. He's a nice fella. Good to have you.

Hi Chuck and Grace.... :wave1: Nice work with the system, and good to see you sharing.. :thumbright:

I've fixed the links in your previous posts, you were close in the first post, if you use the "youtube" button when you are making a post, then just include the last piece of code on your you tube video, like the two just above are q6IYpdI2hpI and 8WxtQEuj6nY and when put between the "youtube" button code it will look a little like this: [youtube ] q6IYpdI2hpI [ /youtube]

Or this without the spaces...

Keep it up..... :thumbright:

Earthbound,
I'm sorry...I didn't see your response. In fact I didn't even see the 'youtube' button. Need new specs...or a fountain of youth to make me younger. :)

Thanks,
Chuck

Welcome... good to see y'all. I grew up around Goose Creek, and it is great to see some home folks have arrived! I am sure that you are going to enjoy all the inputs that you get here. Good luck with all the endeavors!

Hi Joe,
Good to hear from you. Yeah, the inputs here have been terrific. They kept me from too much panic while waiting on the nitrogen cycle. :thumbright:

Chuck

Hi JT,
Just took a look at your system. Now I've got a reason to go to Wilmington, NC. :)

I particularly like the size of your greenhouse...mine is only 8'x8'. This fall I'll be looking for another project so maybe constructing a bit larger (and longer) to accommodate fish might be a good idea.

I loved those veggies from February. Amazing! I'm looking at my 2" tall tomato plants with much greater expectations now.

Regards,
Chuck
