Nice system though, I like the way you have the suspended containers in the water.. how deep are they in the water?

Have you just got bio balls in the barrel filter or something else. ??

The plants sit in about 75mm of water when they are in the pots.

In my filter I have at the bottom the entire trampoline safety net wraped around and scrunched in there, which takes up about 500mm of the barrel height then the rest of the barrel is packed with nylon scourers, right up to the outlet. A simple but (has shown to be) effective filter medium that cost $13.00.
