Hi netab32,

I initially bought the sponge to try to clear up the water. When i got home it was clear so no need. I chucked it in i guess to stop the hydrotron from turning black (water wearing out the clay).

I had a look this morning no real solids/fish poo at the moment. When i get a chance i will make the "ring" of PVC in the GB like the BYAP systems

Awesome! :thumbleft: Looks like its all going well Zman.

Spose Im not too stressed about the black stuff ...(its my favourite colour :D).

So if your making your 'ring', does that mean your going constant flood? (Sorry if I missed it)

At the moment i have it on constant flood to try to speed up the cycling process. Once its done i will probably go back to ebb and flow 15 on 45 off. The PVC should work on either so thought why not (i cant plant that close to the edge anyway  ).

Also where are you located netab32?

Forgot to mention the silicon'ed up IBC tank screw hole is leaking after a few days. :upset: I will probably just leave it till it becomes a huge problem.

Also about the water clearing up, i actually put in a T piece and valve from my pump as the flow was too much. I had it directed to the left of the FT for extra airation but since i changed direction to face the back of the tank its done wonders. I saw fish poo flying to the front where the pump is :laughing3:

I guess i have a semi operational swirling action going on :D

LOL found a few yabbies with 1 claw, cant find the broken ones though.

Also found a dead yabbie. I dont think it was a molt but it seems like the area where the body connects to the tail there is a big hole (the tail remains). Seems like this guy got killed and they ate his insides? unless this is just a messy molt lol

Also Rupert i got a yabbie today, everything was intact except his stomach. I had a look inside and its hollow to the head. Is this a molt? (tail and white "meat" is still on the carcass) Or somehow he got killed and they ate the meat?

Dont think its a moult if there is meat in there Zman ... when they moult its thin - almost transparent.

Weve had a few of those... if they are going to be eaten it seems to be either there or the tail that goes first.

Do you have heaps of hides in there for them Zman?
