I currently have What i believe is a capsicum plant and I am wondering if I need to stake it or whether they are self supporting.

All feedback muchly appreciated.

if it is in a soft media, then yes - I have only ever staked it when they began to produce large amounts of big fruits

it is in a murray growbed but seems today to of fallen over. No fruit on it yet. Also what does a capsicum plant look like I might have something else.

IT has 20mm gravel to hold it in place.

Nick, if it fell over, stake it so it doesn't smother other plants or take up too much precious bed space. Take a picture to show us the plant for positive ID. Capsicums (we call them peppers) have a smooth dark green leaf (sometimes purple) that is oblate and pointed. Flowers are small and white. Some are more ornamental, and there's quite a bit of variation in leaf size, fruit size/shape/color, and the overall size of the plant.

Mine have got pretty tall NIck, so if I get any fruit, I will definately need to stake them. One is already being held up with string to the standpipe outer
