Getting trace readings of ammonia so hooked up my pressure filter to a small 1000L/hr pump to help out. It should filter out fines that I sometimes see floating around in the tank as well.

Been feeding the Jades heaps of food and obviously too much. They fed like crazy this morning and again at lunchtime but I went out just before and they were sulking on the bottom and not coming up to look at me as usual. So I took and ammonia reading and it was 2
Much taking off of water from tank sump outlet and adding buckets of clear aqueous ammonia diluter and its back to 1, and I will not feed till it zeros.
I guess its easy to overfeed Jades

Checked that too and it was 6 so shell grit went in under the gb inlets and some buried in the cf beds. But I guess if the ph is low then ammonia is less of a problem. Will keep monitoring and see what happens.

When I first found Aquaponics Forums about 2 years ago...
rule #1 - DO NOT OVER FEED THE FISH
Hope you can rectify the situation Mantis.

Regards - ColinW

(I think I have been over cautious feeding my Silvers)

Night time temps for next week 5 5 7 6 10 13. Put two layers of bubble wrap around the fish tank and a towel around the canister filter which I will leave on tonight but will turn the water pump off to the grow beds. Hope the 300W aquarium heater can keep the temp up.
