Hi All,
I thought I should start a thread in Member's Systems to show that I do have operating systems and I'm not just a poser!!.
I have also just learnt to upload Video to Youtube, so what better way to start my Thread than with a short video of feeding my fish.
Cheers All IanK

Nothing's better than feeding the fish. Good way to start a system thread. I like how easy it is to see the fish with a white colored tank.

Only got 25, minus the 6 dead'ns leaves me with 19, one has died since, so 18 left. livefish have given me a store credit (could have got a cash refund!) for the 6 that arrived dead, so that will come off the next order, pretty good I think.

Have finally Fibreglassed the top grow bed and flo-coated it.

Filled it full of water, no leaks. Next set of beds, I think I will only Glass the corners and just Flo-Coat the rest of the mini-orb to seal the zincalum. It seems to be flexible enough to cope with the small distortions when the GB is flooded and Drained and it saves the messy job of trying to make the choppy conform to the corrugations.

It wil come into service next week when I flush it a couple of times, 20mm Gravel and Clay Balls washed and ready to go. All fittings have been fabricated for a while now, so it won't take much to assemble.

On another front: How do you epoxy seal screw holes in an Exotek Fibre cement feature wall 4.8 metres high?

Little jades I got from livefish were tiny as well (4 months ago_) and only 15/22 survived with 4 doa. Got a store credit as well which I am happy with.
They grow so quickly, its amazing
I need a Margaret :)

Hehe me too! I couldn't get my wife to go outdoors (too many bugs), let alone climb a ladder. On the plus side though, she rarely ever burns dinner anymore... :D

I got her interested by showing her how AP could grow flowers quicker than her mates could grow 'em in soil, at the Garden Club, so she can win the Table displays!!

And yea, she's not bad for a Sixty Something . . . reckon I might have to feed her for another Fortnight!! (That's 2 weeks for you Yanks!)

Cheers IanK

Hi All,
Just a quick update. The Fibreglassed Top Grow Bed is working well: no leaks and has been half planted out with Lettuce, Dill and Coriander (Cilantro). The rest of the top GB is reserved for Margaret's Flowering Bulbs.
The bottom Grow Bed is still producing our herbs for the Kitchen: Brahmi, Pasley, Malabar Spinach, rosemary sprigs for propogation (all struck OK) and some Lilli Pilli Seedlings from seeds direct sown in the Canna Clay.

File comment: One week in service. New seedlngs planted in top GB

Lost a Goldfish to the Fish Tank pump suction inlet and a couple of Silvers. Have now got the pump sitting in a slotted basket to stop any more fatalities.
Outside IBC unit is powering ahead with the remaining Jades and the planted vegies; Carrots, Lettuce (mignonette), Capsicums and Basil.

Cheers IanK :)

Hi all,
Disaster has struck a mean blow!

All Silvers and Goldfish in mega-Bin system dead! Sleepy Cod not looking real happy either in small top tank running on same water from GB's.
All were O.K. last night when checked, this morning . . . . gone!! :upset:

Even killed the Goldfish, whom I thought were almost Bullet Proof and have been for 2 years now.

Water tested OK: so, it comes down to not cleaning out left-over floating fish food, which turned anaerobic, sucking out the DO and ading toxicity.

Plants in Grow Bed doing fine, especially Her In The Garden's Hyacinth Bulbs she is trialling in the GBs.
Start again

Cheers IanK

Even the Dill is growing rapidly.

Needless to say, the IBC system with the Jade Perch (and Goldies) is still going strong, not feeding them much so no left-overs to worry about.
Live and Learn, hey?
