that I know and if I had just one $ for every person who said that I would be able to build a system just like in "the book"... Still, getting $3000 is still pretty sweet

Oh well, money isnt everything (it just makes everything else a lot easier to deal with!)

aaah, if only they were teenagers who understood the world and value of money - at this age it is only something to tip out of mommy's wallet and shove into dad's DVD drive!

My daughter just dropped her $ 800 flute ....

250 bucks to fix it!

I was PISSED off!

I am a part time muso (rock & pop) and looked at cheap flutes for my daughter ... to me they sounded like tin whistles ... so I decided to buy something that was "warm" and full of "tone". Sort of "sweet!

anyway she was messing with the catches on the case while in the car ... chatting to me .. then got out of the car .. the case was unlocked ... flute fell .. total accident that could have been avoided...

OMG ... damage and dents ..!

One very unhappy dad!

Repair comes out of her savings... "poor baby" ... but she has to learn ... 8)

(I teach her Science this year on a specialist progamme .. ... If anything I am harder on her in class than I am other kids .. .. she did the "attitude" thing to me today ... in class ... Grrrrrrrr!

OMG ... I told her off ... so bad that she was on the verge of tears ... went bright red ... ( I am NOT a teacher that nails kids for trivial crap!)

.. in fact last year .. I gave only one punishment ... litter duty 10 mins ... ONE kid only! in one year .

I get respect ... cos they know where the line is .... I earn it quick and don't get problems .. I get lollies left on my desk! (in secondary school that amazes me!)

anyway .. my daughter crossed the attitude line today ... she copped it!

when I nailer her ... she went bright red .... so close to tears ... (Her mates were near and saw it all !)..

(I felt so bad . but I had to do it!)

It also really showed her peer group that I treated her the same as others ... I don't accept "attitude " or "smartassedness".

I don't think that she will cross me at school for the rest of her time.

(Nasty teacher, loving father maybe!)

Oh .. I will refund the repair bill ...

I love my kids.

I bet she gets some kudos from winding up her old man from her classmates!

Kids will be kids!

yep, the aquaponics mob are breeding - watch out mother nature, here comes a helping hand!
My mother arrived today, and My wife came home today too... at last, I could have a good drink as i don't have to worry about being sober when the labour pains start... Polished off three quarters of a bottle of 'sparkeling wine' - mom got the other quarter - on a bit of a buzz now (and feeling HUNGREY!)...
Now the madness staRTS - had 3 kids all crying at home already, all for different reasons - talk about madness!

johnnie7au, You have done what I would have done...
Kids know where they stand with me and know that I will even take it to the head with them if they feel that I have been out of line, or too harsh on them... I have as of yet to have to apologise.
I will avoide teaching my own kids if I can... I will be way too hard on them and will feel shitty for it later... But then againg that is a long way off as I might move into the high school arena next year and my eldest is only 3 years old 'today'......

well, she has been feeding realy well and has put on 90grams in 2 days - not bad (if only we could get that growth in our fish!)
Her sister is not too happy though as she was still having breast from time to time and now her baby sister has "stolen" that spot - but her brother loves her to bits and begs to hold her, which he does firmly but with great care.

what was even better was that they ALL went out today which gave me just on 5 hours to quickly pull the house straight and to play with aquaponics stuff (which was good as fixing and altering the pump took longer than anticipated!)

I love my kids... but they sure rty a person's patience... I had to repair my tower system today because my loving daughter wanted to see if the outlet pipe at the bottom could support her weight - she found that it could not!
Now, in order to repaire my tower, I had to move my bucket with my duckweed in it... I placed it on the floor, several steps away from where I was working so as to not knock it over... well, my daughter thought that it should have been closer to me, and tried to move it... she learnt that a 2 year old can not lift 10 L of water, and I learnt that you have to count a lot higher than ten to calm down!
So now my duckweed population is down by around 75 percent, and my daughter has a dry set of clothes on...
